Comparison I

April 24, 2010

I should be packing for New Mexico…instead I’m playing with pictures (4/23).

I have no idea what this is. It’s a small tree in front of my house that has the shape of a weeping willow. These buds look like pussy willows, so I’m guessing it’s some mix of the two… Any ideas?

April 5, 2010

I happen to have a photo of the same tree 10 days later. I’m even so much surprised of the difference that I’m going to run outside and see what it looks like now, 8 days later…

April 15, 2010

Even the little leaves are fuzzy!

I haven’t had much time to visit any of the updated PhotoWalk websites lately. I can’t wait to see what I’ve missed…when I get back, ’cause I really should pack. :)

Juicy Fruit

April 23, 2010

I made fruit salad for dessert tonight (4/18, since I schedule these)…

April Theme: Blooms

April 21, 2010

Seems that most of my blog thus far falls under this theme. :)

We’ve had some very strange weather so far this year and it makes me wonder if it’s had an effect on the dogwood trees that don’t seem to be blossoming normally, (then again, I haven’t seen these particular trees in full bloom before). The spots on the petals also make me wonder if there’s something wrong or if this is normal. They don’t look too bad. Does anyone know?

Fun with Black & White

April 20, 2010

My dogwood has blossomed! It’s not pink like I thought, but I still love them.

I was playing around in PhotoShop and really liked what happened when I removed the color and then adjusted the shadows and highlights. I may have gone too far because it’s a bit grainy. I like it though; it reminds me of an old photograph.

April Theme: Violet

April 19, 2010

Does anyone know what this is? It’s in my front yard and has a very strong perfume smell. Each individual bloom looks like an iris, but this is a huge bush!

Kai

April 17, 2010

He’s just too cute not to add another photo of him to my blog. :) I think he dropped a piece of apple we were eating.

Again, taken with the Canon PowerShot SD1000.

When I first looked at this photo, Kai looked deep in thought. When I changed it to black & white, it took on a more serious tone. I tend to like the b&w better…

This 1 and a half year-old is definitely not this serious all the time. In fact, he’s a lot of fun!

Again, taken with the Canon SD1000.

April Theme: Angles

April 15, 2010

Over the weekend, Dan and I took a trip to the local Farmer’s Market in an attempt to sell his handmade cat scratching posts. He did well and I really liked this photo. :)

Again, taken with his Canon PowerShot SD1000.

April Theme: Light

April 14, 2010

I don’t know what it is about this picture that I like so much – the light on the left and shadow on the right, the sky, the composition, the distance perspective? I don’t know, so thought I’d share it anyway. :)

This was taken with Dan’s camera (a Canon PowerShot SD1000, I believe), not my usual DSLR camera.
